KKR’s Approach to Sustainability: KKR maintains that the thoughtful management of sustainability, public policy, regulatory, and geopolitical issues is an essential part of long-term business success in a rapidly changing world, and incorporating such business-relevant issues as part of our investment process helps us both create and protect value. We believe it is crucial to our ability to deliver results on behalf of clients and shareholders, and consistent with our fiduciary duties and efforts to maximize returns, for us to understand and take into account the ways in which these issues may impact commercial outcomes for our investments. We believe supply chain concerns, scarce resources, changing consumer and customer demands, evolving norms, competition for workers and customers, increased regulation, geopolitics, and other similar issues are expected to pose greater challenges and opportunities for companies around the world. KKR seeks to enhance value and reduce risk in our investments by understanding and actively engaging on these issues across the investment life cycle, wherever possible. Responsible investment reflects our commitment to integrating and managing material sustainability considerations in our investment processes globally across asset classes. “Material” sustainability considerations are defined as those that KKR, in its sole discretion, determines have – or have the potential to have – a substantial impact on an organization’s ability to create or preserve economic value. Please refer to https://www.kkr.com/content/dam/kkr/sustainability/pdf/responsible-investment-policy.pdf for more information. Sustainable Product Offering: We have formally launched our KKR Global Impact Funds I and II and KKR Global Climate Transition Fund. KKR Global Impact: The Global Impact strategy is our dedicated impact private equity strategy established to invest in businesses that seek to deliver solutions to critical global challenges. The Global Impact strategy focuses on opportunities where we believe we can help scale an existing business to deliver enhanced economic outcomes and impact. The strategy seeks to invest in leading companies where financial performance and positive impact are intrinsically linked. To do this, we: Focus on our four investment themes: climate action / energy transition, sustainable living, lifelong learning, and inclusive growth Identify opportunities to scale solutions to a locally relevant challenge linked to a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), in collaboration with third-party experts Invest behind proven business models Use active governance to encourage risk reduction and support operational improvements to drive value creation Measure and manage impact and sustainability performance KKR Global Climate Transition Launched in 2023, KKR’s Global Climate Transition strategy seeks to invest in solutions that enhance the efficiency, productivity, resilience, and business-relevant decarbonization across all sectors of the physical economy. The strategy particularly focuses on energy, buildings, digital infrastructure, transportation, manufacturing, chemicals, agriculture, water, and wastewater. Incubated within our Infrastructure platform and powered by the cross-functional expertise of teams from across KKR, the strategy seeks to invest in growth infrastructure opportunities, which require significant amounts of capital. We developed a climate investing framework to seek to consistently evaluate the emission intensity and abatement of the opportunities we pursue. That framework was developed with outside experts and advisors — such as the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) and SystemiQ — and is mapped to the applicable aspects of commonly used frameworks, such as TCFD, the EU Taxonomy, the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Sustainability Reporting: At KKR, we aim to disclose high-quality, relevant information as part of our annual sustainability reporting efforts, a commitment we have upheld since publishing our inaugural report in 2011.
